Lead Principal Investigators

Balachundhar Subramaniam, MD, MPH

Dr. Subramaniam has a background in perioperative outcomes research, with specific training in clinical effectiveness research (MPH) from the Harvard School of Public Health. His research includes improving postsurgical outcomes such as pain, myocardial infarction, stroke, and wound infection, postoperative delirium following high-risk surgery such as cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgery.

Edward R. Marcantonio, MD, MS

Dr. Marcantonio is an internationally recognized expert and clinical investigator in the area of delirium (acute confusion), in which he has performed numerous observational and interventional research studies. He currently leads two NIH-funded R01 studies in this area focused on. Dr. Marcantonio’s research interests include improving diagnostic strategies for delirium, biomarker discovery for delirium quality of care for hospitalized older adults, improving predictors of hospitalization and unplanned hospital readmission, and outcomes of non-cardiac and cardiac surgery in older adults.

Daniel Talmor, MD, MPH

Dr. Talmor focuses his research on the care of critically ill patients both in the intensive care unit, and in the operating room. This includes not only organ failure, but also the impact of the critical care environment on long-term outcomes including cognition and functional status, as well as the impact of quality improvement initiatives in the ICU on the patient and family experience.

Priyam Mathur, MS, Project Manager

Ms. Mathur graduated from Purdue University with a BS in Biology and a BA in Communication and Media studies. She continued to Indiana University, where she completed her Master’s in Health Informatics. Priyam’s interest in data management led her to an internship with Dr. Subramaniam’s lab where she then worked as the project lead for the NIH-funded Dynamic Biomarkers trial. She is currently a Project Manager with Sadhguru Center. Her expertise is in data management of complex biomarker datasets and large grant-funded clinical trials.

Evynne Gartner, sIRB Liaison

Evynne Gartner has an extensive background in various healthcare industry settings; from pre-clinical pharmaceutical research, to hematologic cancer research, to anesthesia and pain medicine. Over the years she has developed a strong knowledge of regulatory standards, compliance systems, and government regulations. She has managed government funded, industry sponsored and investigator initiated clinical trials all while working closely with various IRBs. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science from Roger Williams University.

Jordan Peck, BA, CRC Sr.

Jordan completed her BA in international development with minors in cell biology, Chinese, and French at Tulane University. In her time in college, she worked on a variety of research and community health projects including a Parkinson’s study at Washington University in Saint Louis and information management at a pain management practice. Her program at Tulane culminated in a thesis evaluating perceptions of osteopathic versus allopathic medicine in the New Orleans Vietnamese-American community. Jordan is interested in accelerating community development via culturally-informed health research.

Ashwin Swaminathan, BS, CRC Sr.

Ashwin completed his BS with a major in Biomedical Engineering on the pre-medical track at the University of Virginia in 2022. He joined the team in June 2022 as Clinical Research Assistant on the meditation team. He has prior research experience in nephrology, diabetes, and cell engulfment, with an undergraduate capstone project on detecting biomarkers for acute kidney injury in cardiac surgery patients. Ashwin is interested in exploring the mind-body connection as a highly accessible form of therapy for disadvantaged patients.

Van Nguyen, BS, CRC II

Van Nguyen received her BS in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Emmanuel College in Boston in 2019. Prior to joining our department, she has worked as a research assistant in a biophysical research lab studying enzyme kinematics. Van joined the team in June 2019 and is excited to learn about clinical research in a hospital setting. In her free time she likes to crochet fun creatures.

Sruthi Ganesh, BS, CRC II

Sruthi Ganesh joins the Sadhguru Center as a Clinical Research Assistant. Sruthi has previously worked as a medical assistant at Silver Spring Primary Care in Silver Spring, Maryland and a research assistant at the Gender Culture Health Lab and Neurocognitive Development Labs at the University of Maryland in College Park. She received a dual BS in Physiology/Neurobiology and Psychology at the University of Maryland.
